Szabo Family Foundation

The members of the Luxor Group strive to conduct business in a manner consistent with their Values and Vision and seek to empower all stakeholders to contribute to and improve the society around them. The individual members of the Szabo family recognize the importance and value of giving back and supporting our community and have established the Szabo Family Foundation, the purpose of which includes a focus on improving and enabling the lives of children. In 2017, the Szabo family made a $1,200,000 donation in order to endow the Szabo Family Foundation and each year the family continues to financially support and expand the initiatives of the foundation consistent with its purpose.

Honorary Consulate of Hungary

Arthur M. Szabo, K.C. is the Honorary Consul for Hungary in Alberta. As Honorary Consul, Mr. Szabo assists Hungarians with personal and business issues arising while in Canada as well as Canadian companies and individuals in their dealings with Hungary. In addition to his diplomatic duties as Honorary Consul, Mr. Szabo actively and proudly supports Hungarian arts, heritage and culture, its history in Alberta and the overall and continuing contribution of Canadians of Hungarian origin to the rich and dynamic fabric of Canadian society.

In 2020, Mr. Szabo was awarded the Knight's Cross, Hungarian Order of Merit. The Hungarian Order of Merit is one of the highest State Orders awarded by Hungary and was received by Mr. Szabo in recognition of his contribution to Hungarian communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan, to people of Hungarian heritage in Canada and abroad and in appreciation for his long standing role as Honorary Consul.

Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal (Alberta)

In 2022, Nancy L. Jarjour Szabo was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal (Alberta) in recognition of her many years of commitment and significant contribution to Alberta in general and to Alberta youth in particular. Among her various roles and activities, Ms. Jarjour Szabo served as President and Director of the Strathcona Tweedsmuir School Volunteer Board, she served as President and Director of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for Alberta and the Northwest Territories and she served as a Director of the National Board of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Canada.

The Platinum Jubilee Medal commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second to the Throne as Queen of Canada and is intended to recognize significant contributions of Canadians to society and to their province in particular.
